Don't Lift Heavy Objects
Most surgeries require that you not lift heavy objects for a while. Breast augmentation is no exception. After your procedure, you won't be able to carry groceries, pets, or even your child for at least a few weeks. This promotes rapid, healthy healing and beautiful results.


Can I damage my breast implants?

All types of breast implants have an outer, silicone shell that can potentially develop a tear or hole called a rupture. A saline implant also has a valve that can fail, causing a leak. The chance that your implant will rupture or leak increases over time.

When can you braless breast implants?

Generally speaking, you shouldn't consider going braless for at least six weeks after breast augmentation. Your breasts need to be thoroughly supported during this time to ensure optimal healing. After six weeks, you may occasionally go braless, but try to keep this to special occasions, and don't make it a habit.

Do breast implants break easily?

How hard can you squeeze implants?

Today's breast implants are extremely durable, and can withstand tremendous amounts of pressure before rupturing: about 175 pounds for saline, and up to 300 or so for silicone gel. This is far more pressure than a mammogram comes even close to applying.

Can a mammogram pop breast implants?

The majority (62.1%) of problems reported were for breast implant rupture that was suspected to occur during mammography. Rupture during compression for mammography was reported for both silicone gel-filled and saline-filled breast implants.

How long breast implants last?

On average, today's implants are designed to last more than a decade, with the chance of rupture increasing by one percent each year. So, the older your implants are, the greater your risk of rupture or other complications. In many cases, breast implants can remain in good shape for 20 years or more.

Lift heavy objects: Lifting heavy objects, even your children, in the 3-4 weeks after your surgery could negatively impact your recovery because of the strain it causes on your implants and incisions.


Can I vacuum after breast augmentation?

Limit activity: Refrain from any exercise or strenuous activity for the first two to three weeks after breast surgery, including housecleaning, vacuuming, anything requiring arm movement, and brisk walking.
