Jewelry Packaging: Tiffany and Co. packaging goes green

The blue box with a white ribbon is infamous worldwide, and a cornerstone of the Tiffany and Co. branding. In 2012 100% of the suppliers for that little blue box were Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified. The FSC is an independent, non-governmental, not for profit organization established to promote responsible management of the world’s forests.

In 2012, over 89% of the materials used to make that statement box originated from recycled sources, 81% of which came from post-consumer recycled content, and Tiffany and Co. continues to make improvements to their carbon footprint. Crystal and china products are no longer packaged in tissue paper, but instead are protected by bubble wrap. Even the bubble wrap is made from  60-100% recycled content, and made with approximately 50% less raw materials compared to 2011. All corrugated boxes, tissue paper and bubble wrap are recyclable (where facilities exist).

A company with a true commitment to being green (while keeping their signature Tiffany blue) Tiffany and Co. provide an exemplary example of how to be green without giving up your brand.
