These lovely packages were brought to us by the same man who brought us the genius customized barcodes. Illustrator/designer Steve Simpson has a very distinct style, as can be seen on his Behance profile. His aesthetic is great for creating playful and festive pieces; which is certainly the case here with these great El Mariachi wine bottles. The cute figures, and detailed hand drawn label give a down-to-earth one of a kind vibe to the wine. Simpson did not create these bottles on his own, the design company behind the project, IKON BC describes the product:
IKON BC has teamed up with Mexican winemakers from the Sonora province. For this project we collaborated with talented illustrator,Steve Simpson, who became a part of our team. The El Mariachi collection is primarily targeted towards young adults, this demographic is becoming of greater importance in the red wine market. Our team wanted to go beyond the conventional labels and create something that has a visual aesthetic of the brand’s emotion and personality. Thus, we decided to use an accompanying neck-hanger element in the form of 3 Mariachi heads, one for each label.
Check out the bottles below, and luckily for us, Simpson also gives a look into his creative process.
